NDC’s Naa Koryoo Secures Awutu Senya East Seat from Hawa Koomson

In a significant political shift, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured a victory in the Awutu Senya East constituency. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, emerged victorious over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Mavis Hawa Koomson. Naa Koryoo won with 50,886 votes, while Koomson garnered 46,638 votes.

This win marks the end of Hawa Koomson’s tenure as MP, a position she had held for over a decade. The election process was marked by tensions and accusations from both parties, but the results were ultimately declared under close scrutiny. Following the announcement, Naa Koryoo’s supporters celebrated enthusiastically at the collation centre.
