NDC’s Faustina Akurugu Triumphs Over Mike Oquaye Jnr in Dome Kwabenya

In a significant political shift, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured a victory in the Dome Kwabenya constituency. Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, emerged victorious over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Mike Oquaye Jnr. Akurugu won with 51,634 votes, while Oquaye Jnr trailed closely with 50,477 votes.

This win marks the first time the NPP will not represent Dome Kwabenya in Parliament since 2012. The election process was marked by tensions and accusations from both parties, but the results were ultimately declared under close scrutiny. Following the announcement, Akurugu’s supporters celebrated enthusiastically at the collation centre.
