Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, has expressed concerns about the leadership of the Minority in Parliament, stating that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seems to have an abundance of unserious individuals.
In an interview with Starr FM, the MP cautioned that the current Majority Caucus in Parliament will no longer tolerate any further misbehavior from the Minority. He claimed that recent events in Parliament demonstrate a lack of leadership within the NPP minority.
Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed stated that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin is not demonstrating effective leadership and has consistently been unable to maintain discipline within his caucus.
“We want to exercise that patience to a level that the people of this country will say enough is enough…there are too many clowns in the NPP,’’ he argued.
“The NPP seemed not to have direction, they seemed not to have leaders. Anybody can do what he likes…Afenyo-Markin has consistently failed to control his people,’’ he added.
His remarks follow recent events in Parliament since the establishment of the 9th Parliament.
Commenting on the Minority’s decision to wear black and red to Parliament on Tuesday, Murtala suggested that the Minority MPs were symbolically mourning the downfall of their party.
“But for them to be in black, I think it was just mourning the demise of the NPP,’’ Murtala Muhammed stated.
