President John Dramani Mahama has appointed John Dumelo, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, as the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture.
The appointment was announced on February 5, 2025, in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson for the President.
John Dumelo, a former actor turned politician, is also a professional farmer. This appointment marks his first term in Parliament, where he represents the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He holds three master’s degrees. His first degree is in Civil Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In 2022, he obtained his second master’s from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). His third master’s, in Law (Natural Resources), was awarded by the University of Ghana Law School in 2024.
