Genoa CFC, an Italian club, has made the announcement that they have successfully signed Maxwel Cornet, an Ivorian striker.
After spending the entirety of the 2024–2025 football season with West Ham United, the veteran forward will be joining the Italian team on loan for the remainder of the season.
In an official statement released on Monday, January 20, Genoa made the announcement that they had officially acquired the forward.
One of the new players for Genoa is Maxwel Cornet. The striker, who was born in Bregbo on September 27, 1996, is currently working on loan from West Ham, the club with whom he won the UEFA Conference League in 2023. In his career, he has played for Metz, Burnley, Southampton, and Olympique Lyon, where he has made 252 appearances, scored 51 goals, and assisted 29 others. He has also played for Southampton.
In addition to his extensive history of playing for the French youth national teams and his hundreds of appearances in continental club tournaments, he has played for the Ivory Coast national team and scored six goals in a total of thirty-one matches. Congratulations on your arrival in Genoa, Max,” the Italian club said.
The first half of the 2024–25 football season was spent on loan at Southampton, where Cornet made only two appearances. Cornet has now joined Genoa after spending the first half of the season there.
It is his hope that he will be able to play on a regular basis at Genoa in order to regain his form.
