Acclaimed Ghanaian radio personality and musician, Blakk Rasta, real name Abubakar Ahmed, has criticized African leadership on his program ‘Urban Blend’ on 3FM, observed by Chale Radio.
He started by declaring the almost divine position according to presidents in Africa. “Now the presidents in Africa are like demigods” he laments.
Speaking the imprudent powers of African presidents and the defiance trouble the continent, his reports were both thought-provoking and contentious.
Quoting Mahama’s current statement, Blakk Rasta pointed out the one-time president’s pledge to put an end to ex-gratia benefits for government officials if re-elected.
“Here is a man who understands the sweetness of wealth, yet he is saying he’s not interested in ex-gratia. This is a bold stance, and i see a genuine energy to work. But Mr. President, don’t get complacent- it’s early days yet, he proposed.
“In some countries, presidents are even respected than God. They wield power far greater than one can imagine.
The musician also criticized former government initiatives, especially the much-touted “Year of Rods” program, tagging it monumental failure.
“I drove all the way from capital to Wa, and the so- called Year of Roads is nothing but a farce. The dust, potholes and broken down cars tells the real story.”
“Imagine entering Accra by road and being greeted by such terrible conditions. It’s shameful!, he cried out.
