Hammarby IF has confirmed the signing of Ghanaian teenager Bernard Acheampong on a five-year contract from Ghanaian Division Two side Asanska Football Club. Hammarbly IF is a Swedish top-flight club
The talented winger, who turns 18 on December 31, 2024, reportedly caught the attention of Hammarby scouts during their visit to Ghana in November last year. After impressing during a training camp in Marbella, Spain, the club finalized his signing.
Announcing the deal, Hammarby stated:
“Ghanaian winger Bernard Acheampong has been training with Hammarby in Marbella this past week, and it is now clear that he will become a permanent Hammarby player. The club and Bernard have agreed on a five-year contract.”
Speaking after signing the deal, Acheampong expressed his excitement about the move:
“I am very happy to have signed for a club like Hammarby. It feels very good, and I am looking forward to learning a lot here.”
Hammarby’s sporting director, Mikael Hjelmberg, highlighted the club’s belief in the youngster’s potential:
“We are very proud and happy that Bernard has chosen to continue his career in Hammarby. We see a lot of potential in him. He has both speed, technique, and a finishing ability that we hold in high regard. We will work very hard to ensure that Bernard develops as well as possible in Hammarby.”
Acheampong has been tipped for a bright future and is expected to break into the Swedish top flight for the 2025-26 season.
