Attendance Is Depressing -Justice Blay

Justice Blay, Asante Kotoko’s deputy captain, has urged fans to turn out in large numbers to support the team as the league’s second round begins.

The Ghana Premier League has had minimal attendance, particularly in the first half of the season, leaving the players concerned.

Blay believes that the large number of fans at the stadium motivates the players to perform well week after week.

The Kotoko stalwart described the situation after the first half of the campaign, saying it was depressing to play without the fans.

“It’s depressing; I remember when I first joined the club and couldn’t believe what I saw in the tunnel.” But things have changed,” he said during the pre-match press conference for the game against Karela United.

“I’m asking the supporters to come to the stadium and support us. Some athletes perform better when they see people in the stadium,” he continued.

The Reds, who are determined to reclaim the Premier League title, will host the struggling side in Kumasi on Sunday.

“We’re determined to win. I’ve already told my teammates to step up. Because Karela consistently achieves positive results in Kumasi. So we’ll go into the game with determination,” he said.
