GFA President Kurt Okraku Files Nomination For CAF Executive Committee Position

Kurt Okraku, president of Ghana Football Association officially filed his nomination to contest for a position on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.

The elections, scheduled for March 2025, could mark a significant milestone in Okraku’s administrative career as he is running unopposed to represent the WAFU Zone B.

This development presents a golden opportunity for Okraku, especially as Djibril Hamidou, the current holder of the seat and president of the Niger Football Association, is reportedly eyeing a position on the FIFA Council.

This move opens the door for Okraku to secure the CAF role with the backing of WAFU Zone B.

In 2021, Okraku withdrew from the CAF Executive Committee race to foster unity within the zone, allowing Hamidou to take the seat unchallenged.

Now, with the support of the zone, Okraku is well-positioned to step into a pivotal leadership role in African football governance.

This candidacy is expected to strengthen Ghana’s influence within CAF and enhance Okraku’s profile as a football administrator committed to the growth of the sport across the continent.

The elections will undoubtedly be a defining moment for Okraku and African football.
