Ms Julie Essiam, who is the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has officially stepped down from her position.
Ms Essiam sends her appreciation for the opportunity to serve and pointed up the collective accomplishments during her term.
Her retirement was curbed in a letter dated January 20, 2025, directed to the President and copied to key government officials.
“With the greatest depth of gratitude, after five and a half years of incredible career at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), I write to resign from my position as the Commissioner-General (C-G) of the Authority, with immediate effect.
” The opportunity to serve this nation in this capacity has been an honor and a privilege. The successes of my journey at the GRA, and in particular my tenure as the C-G, has been possible because of the collective efforts of all the men and women of the GRA.
“Together with this exceptional group of employees across the GRA, my tenure as C-G has been a blessing with historic achievements, and I am in awe of this dedicated, committed and talented workforce of this great Authority who have supported me throughout my journey in the GRA.
“Together, we have achieved remarkable successes, especially in the area of revenue collection, and consistently exceeded our monthly revenue targets during my tenure as the C-G. I am proud of what this team has accomplished for our dear nation,” she noted.
She also noted some of her achievements, which includes a revenue performance of GH152.977 billion against a target of GH145.998 billion for the 2024 revenue year. She was appointed by the former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo on March 24, 2024 to serve as Commissioner-General of the GRA.
