The NPP took me for a ride – Kwabena Kwabena

Legendary highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena has been dissatisfied with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) alleged unfair treatment of him over the years.

He claims that the party has failed to acknowledge him, especially since he wrote and produced a song for them in 2008. In addition, he asserted that the party failed to reach out to him and had altered certain parts of the songs to fit their political goal.

In an interview with Okay FM, the contemporary highlife artist noted that the NPP had used the song for a number of purposes without his permission, giving the public the impression that he was still party loyal.

“I don’t like to talk about certain things. The NPP has taken me for a ride for a very long time. They did that again. Without my consent, they took the music; they didn’t even contact me, and they went to the studio themselves and cut it to suit their purpose without my consent,’’ he alleged.

“When they were done, they didn’t tell me anything, and so people still think I’m NPP because of what they do,’’ Kwabena Kwabena added.

Kwabena Kwabena emphasized that when an artist risks his career to endorse a political party, it is only fair that his efforts be recognized, but the NPP failed to do so.
