Ghanaian broadcast journalist, Serwaa Amihere, has finally opened up on the emotional battles she faced after an intimate video of her made headlines somewhere last year.
Recalling how the whole issues affected her life at the Ignite Youth Empowerment Thanksgiving, she revealed that crisis she encountered, especially her battle with depression, and the momentous role Obuobia Darko Opoku, her close friend played to support her during those dire times.
“I was depressed and crying at home that day. Then she came and said, ‘let’s go and buy ice cream.’ I wasn’t talking to anyone, but she came to pick me up. She took me to Osu, and I remember trying to wear a cap. She asked, ‘why? Why do you want hide your face? Let’s go.’ She brought me a big cup of ice cream and said, ‘today, eat all the ice cream you can.’’
Serwaa Amihere revealed that despite the simplicity of the gesture, it played a pivotal role in lifting up her spirit and also expressed her profound gratitude to Obuobia for her immense support.
“And she said she would take me out for lunch the next day. Somehow, we both ended up cancelling. But Auntie Obuobia, thank you because I never told you how grateful I was for that ride. It did me a lot of good,’’ she hinted.
“She has been an amazing person. I don’t think I need to say much. You all here know how amazing and supportive she is. She always supports and advise me and my sister. So, thank you. I love very much,’’ she added.
