Actor Mawuli Semevo passes away after accident

Renowned actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away at the age of 63 due to injuries sustained in a fire.

According to reports, he died on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Ridge Hospital while undergoing treatment for the wounds he sustained in a fire accident about a week earlier.

Judith Addison of Beyond Burns International, a dedicated non-profit organization that advocates for and supports burn survivors, announced on February 8, 2025, that Mawuli had been in serious condition following the fire incident. She explained that Mawuli was asleep when his house caught fire.

“Beyond Burns International received an SOS alert about an unfortunate incident. We came here today, and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident. I came to see him, and his life is hanging in the balance,” Judith said in a video shared on social media.

“Up to 44% of his body has been burned. He is unable to breathe properly due to respiratory injuries. This is a severe case, with burns from his head to his legs. He lost all of his hair, and everything caught fire,” she added.

Actors such as Edinam Atatsi and Ken Fiati later confirmed the claim. Mawuli Semevo was well-known for his exceptional acting skills in both theater and film.
