Former Black Stars player Sulley Muntari has ranked his top five Ghanaian midfielders, placing himself in a surprising fourth position.
The legendary footballer, who represented prestigious clubs including AC Milan and Inter Milan, spent 12 years wearing the national colors and shared the pitch with many of the finest players of his generation, such as Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah.
During an interview with TV3 Gh, the 40-year-old was asked to list his favorite Ghanaian midfielders. He named Appiah as his top choice, with Essien following closely in second place. Interestingly, Muntari originally placed himself in fifth position but later reversed this decision after naming his former teammate Anthony Annan. He ultimately assigned the third spot to Laryea Kingston.
Muntari, who retired in 2022 after a stint with Hearts of Oak, experienced a distinguished career filled with numerous accolades, including the English FA Cup and Serie A titles. He was a key member of the historic Inter Milan squad that achieved a treble under the management of José Mourinho.
