Sabahn Quaye: Only Unity Can Bring Hearts of Oak Back to the Top

Former Hearts of Oak Team Manager Sabahn Quaye has passionately appealed to supporters of the club to come together and rally behind the team as it seeks to rediscover its glory days.

In a recent interaction with local sports media, Quaye expressed deep concern over the current state of the club, citing inconsistency in performance, dwindling fan engagement, and managerial instability as key factors contributing to Hearts of Oak’s struggles in recent seasons.

He emphasized that unity among the club’s supporters is critical if the Phobians are to rebuild and reclaim their position among Africa’s football giants.

“This is the time we need every true Phobian to come together as one family. Hearts of Oak is more than just a football club — it is a heritage, a legacy that must be protected. The fans are the heartbeat of the club, and without their full support, revival becomes difficult,” Sabahn Quaye said.

He called on the various supporter groups, the National Chapters Committee (NCC), and other stakeholders to set aside differences and work towards a common goal of reviving the club. He also urged them to continue supporting the current management and technical team as they work to restore the club’s competitive spirit.

Quaye, who was part of Hearts’ golden era in the early 2000s when the team won multiple domestic and continental titles, noted that while the road to recovery might be tough, it is possible if there is collective belief and unity.

“We’ve seen difficult times before, but with one voice and the never-say-die spirit, we came out stronger. That same spirit is needed now more than ever,” he added.

Hearts of Oak, 21-time Ghana Premier League champions, have faced a turbulent run in recent seasons, including coaching changes and underwhelming league performances. Many fans have grown frustrated, but Quaye believes this is the moment to show unwavering loyalty rather than division.

He concluded by calling on fans to fill the stadium during matches, support the players through thick and thin, and play their part in reviving the club’s fortunes.
