President Mahama appoints eight-member committee to plan National Education Forum

President John Dramani Mahama has constituted an eight-member committee to supervise the National Education Forum, tasked with reviewing the country’s education sector.

The committee will be led by Professor George K.T. Oduro, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.

 Other notable members include Professor Rosemary Bosu, Dr. Samuel Awuku, and Professor Smile Dzisi. Additionally, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz will also be part of the committee.

In a statement issued by the Acting Spokesperson of the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on February 2, 2024, it was announced that the committee’s responsibility will be to develop a strategy for engagement and identify key stakeholders, including students, lecturers, religious leaders, and other relevant groups.

Furthermore, the committee will schedule the National Education Forum within the next two weeks, record its findings, and recommend policies for the government to take into account.

This initiative is part of President Mahama’s efforts to overhaul the education sector and tackle its existing issues.
