Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, has named former Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan as the best player he has ever coached.
Appiah shared the sentiment during a Q&A session with 3Sports, reflecting on his time managing Gyan during his two spells as Black Stars coach—first from 2012 to 2014 and again from 2017 to 2020.
Gyan holds the record as Ghana’s top scorer with 51 goals and is the country’s second most-capped player, following Andre Ayew.
Kwasi Appiah recently led Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, further adding to his coaching accomplishments.
