Israeli second-tier side Maccabi Petah Tikva FC have completed the signing of Ghanaian international winger Samuel Owusu, as the club strengthens its squad for a strong push toward promotion to the Israeli Premier League.
The 28-year-old joins the club after a solid stint with OFK Beograd in Serbia’s SuperLiga, where he featured in 23 matches, scored 3 goals, and provided 2 assists during the 2024/25 season. His arrival is expected to add pace, creativity, and international experience to Petah Tikva’s attacking options.
Samuel Owusu began his career at Ghana’s Vision FC before making a name for himself in Europe. He has also had stints with Turkish club Gençlerbirliği and Saudi Arabian sides Al-Fayha and Al-Ahli. His vast experience across different leagues makes him a valuable asset for Maccabi Petah Tikva.
Owusu is well known for his blistering speed, dribbling skills, and ability to stretch defenses. These qualities have also earned him 17 caps for the Ghana national team, including appearances in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking after the move, Owusu expressed excitement about his new challenge in Israel. “I’m happy to join a historic club like Maccabi Petah Tikva. I’m here to give my best and help the team achieve its goals,” he said.
The club’s management also praised the signing, citing Owusu’s experience and versatility as key additions to the squad. “We believe Samuel will play a vital role in our campaign. His quality and international pedigree speak for themselves,” a club statement read.
Maccabi Petah Tikva, one of the oldest football clubs in Israel, are determined to secure promotion this season, and the addition of Owusu is a clear signal of their ambition.
